Homestay

The Homestay Facilitator finds homes for international students.  Located in the International Office, the Homestay Facilitator looks for dedicated families who can provide a safe and friendly home environment for students during their stay at Yukon University.  The Homestay Facilitator visits each family in their home and each adult in the house must have a police background check done before being approved as a host family.

All homes are located on city bus routes.  Host families enjoy introducing students to Whitehorse and Canadian culture.

The average cost of monthly rent ranges between:

  • $600.00 - $1,200.00 CAD for rooms or suites
  • $1,000.00 - $1,800.00 CAD for apartments or homes

The rentals are usually found in the classified advertisement section of the newspaper, as well as the rental section on Kijiji and on Facebook Marketplace.  Please check the Yukon News or the Whitehorse Star newspapers for rental listings or look on bulletin boards around town.
