Yukon Baby

The locally created Yukon Baby App was conceived at the Hacking Health North event on May 9-11th, 2014. The team responsible included programmers, health care providers and a designer.

Yukon Baby is an Android and iPhone-based app designed to engage and support families during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and the post-partum period.

The vision behind this project was to involve families in their children's health during these critical periods that lay the groundwork for their futures.

Project Overview

The app has the following features:

  • Resource finder –  a list of existing community resources and pregnancy/childhood-related businesses for both families and those working with them.
  • Community calendar of events relating to children, family services and maternal health.
  • An engaging front page that shows the status of a woman’s pregnancy with fun visuals and nuggets of relevant health messages.
  • Timeline of what to expect during pregnancy including regular check-ups.
  • Useful tools to engage patients such as: mental health check-in (depression scale), contraction timer, birth plan, pregnancy timeline and more to come.
  • Frequently asked questions with evidence-based answers targeted to specific months of pregnancy.
  • Information also relevant for fathers/partners.

The online platform functions similarly to a content management system and allows community health care providers to update information in the calendar. All content in the app will be periodically updated to keep it relevant.

The Apple and Android versions of the app are now complete and available in the app and google play stores. For additional information and updates please visit the Yukon Baby website.
