Using Drones for Aerial Mapping

This project looked into using unmanned aerial vehicles (commonly known as drones) for various mapping surveys.

Aerial mapping has a wide range of applications yet there is currently no Yukon company offering this service. Changeable weather, harsh and hard to access environments, and the need for aircraft and pilot safety all add to the challenges, delays and expense of conducting aerial photogrammetric surveys in the territory. Drones could be a cost-effective way of generating traditional aerial mapping products, in particular Orthophotos, Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Contours. At this time the proponent is not moving the project forward.
