Urban Wind Turbine Development

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to develop an efficient wind turbine that can be used in both an urban and rural environment while mitigating negative cold weather operation issues. The renewable electrical power would be for homes or buildings in urban or rural areas that have wind energy potential in Yukon communities.

Researchers will study and develop a 2000 watt wind turbine along with a micro wind energy system to independently produce grid-tie electrical power.

This project will entail collecting performance data on the wind turbine over the course of 1 year, during which the turbine will be mounted to a transportable test stand
