Thermally Broken Strapping

Thermal bridging occurs when a more conductive (or poorly insulating) material allows an easy pathway for heat flow across a thermal barrier. This reduces the effective R-Value of the building envelope causing significant energy loss, particularly in cold climates such as the North.

The goal of this project is to build and test an innovative new wall assembly cladding and strapping design with reduced thermal bridging.

The wall system has been constructed at the test facility at Yukon College. Results are expected in June 2016.
