Northwestel remote weather sensing and reporting

Project Overview

This project will install weather sensors on several Northwestel sites throughout the north. These sensors will gather data on wind, solar, temperature, pressure and moisture. This data will be gathered and housed at the YRC data-server and used to build a more comprehensive weather and wind atlas for the North. In the near term, this data will be used to assess the feasibility of installing alternative energy generation (solar/wind) at the Northwestel remote sites to offset diesel usage. In the long term, this information will better enable researchers to better understand changing climate regimes throughout the remote north.
