Iryl Inks

Sharon Katz

Iryl Inks is a start-up company in agri-chemistry. Iryl identifies market applications for northern plants. To date, the company developed a printing ink in which a plant extract replaces about half of the petroleum-based in the ink.

Project overview

The challenges facing Iryl Inks are two-fold.

On the agricultural front, the company is starting to develop agriculture practices for its northern plant. These practises will enable mechanized, large scale cultivation of the plant, for ink, as well as other applications.

On the chemical front, the company is contracting the services of an ink formulation laboratory in Quebec, to develop a plant-based resin suitable for fully-bio-based inks
