The impact of trauma can be far-reaching and enduring. This workshop provides an overview of the way trauma affects a person through the brain and nervous system and how it can result in longer term symptoms at physical, psychological and emotional levels. A framework which describes different stages in the process of regulating and resolving the impact of trauma is reviewed and key principles and strategies that apply to a diverse range of impacts in children, adolescents and adults are explored. Participants will be given an opportunity to understand their own response as helpers to working with trauma and how to be better equipped to continue their work responding to trauma.
